Fall is almost here – Sept. 23 will arrive before we know it. With the season’s beginning also come the wonderful fall plant sales. Autumn is a great planting season and gives greenery time to establish deep roots before the hot summers.
Here is information about two of the sales happening in Tarrant County the first two weeks of October. Never been to a fall plant sale? No worries, here’s what you can expect.
North Texas Chapter of the Native Plant Society of Texas
Saturday, Oct. 3 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Besides educating Texans about native plants, chapter members also grow Texas’ glorious plants and sell them to the public at their fall plant sale. The best parts about these plants are that they require little water and don’t need pesticides or fertilizers.
The group will have ground covers, perennials, shrubs, grasses, vines, trees and aquatics available. For a complete list of the plants offered, you can download their flyer.
I highly recommend visiting their website to learn more about the native greenery. They have pictures of each plant, along with details about light requirements, bloom time and more. Once on their website, click on red “2015 Fall Plant Sale” button to see these specs.
